Blue Ridge ABC has been working for years to support anti-repression work in the Asheville area through education, raising money for bail and legal fees for people arrested at protests or in relation to political actions and advocacy.
We can now receive funds via our venmo, @BlueRidgeABC. The money we raise will go to help pay for bail and court fees for folks engaged in political protest and activity in movement for social justice, including folks involved in anti-racist and movement for Black lives protests. BRABC’s Bail Fund is working in conjunction with local activists from the AVL Jail Support crew which offers support from booking through court for social justice arrestees.
We hope to one day participate in a generalized bail fund as we believe that jail is a travesty and that all prisoners are political due to the racial, social and economic mechanisms at work in this country. For now, we are limiting our efforts to support the release of people we clearly recognize as having been arrested or harassed by the state for explicitly political activity or speech as a part of the movement for liberation.
